In an attempt to convince Elena (Nina Dobrev) to turn her humanity back on, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) attempted to overload her with emotions on the April 18 episode of The Vampire Diaries — and what better occasion to exploit a teenage girl’s feelings than her senior prom? Unfortunately for the eternally clueless Salvatores, their little plan totally backfired, instead triggering their own dormant feelings about Elena… and each other. In other words, this love triangle is so back on.
Unfortunately for Damon, it looks like Stefan might win the eventual Tug-of-Elena, after all. Not only did Elena full-on deny that she’s Damon’s girlfriend — she told him that anything she felt for him was a result of the sire bond — but the heat between her and Stefan at prom was irrefutable. As they danced to Rihanna‘s “Stay,” which was a heavy-handed song choice in itself, Stefan reminded her of the intense history they share; and call me crazy, but I feel like he was starting to get through to her.
